Transformative Leadership: Deepening Equity and Inclusion Through Hofstra’s Inclusive Leadership Program
Sadika Clarke, Supervisor Community, Culture, and Wellness
As the Supervisor of Community, Culture, and Wellness, and SWBOCES DEI Coordinator, fostering spaces where equity, inclusion, and belonging thrive is at the heart of everything I do. This year, attending Hofstra University's Certificate in Inclusive Leadership Program has been a transformative experience—not just affirming my work, but deepening my approach to leadership in ways that align with the New York State Board of Regents' vision for educational institutions.
One of the greatest gifts of the program was joining a community of leaders from all walks of life. Together, we shared perspectives, stories, and experiences that broadened my view of what inclusion truly means in various settings—whether in schools or larger organizations. This journey reminded me that, no matter how much I think I know, I’m always a student, constantly learning from those around me.
The hands-on work, case studies, and scenarios we explored gave me practical, evidence-based strategies to sharpen my equity lens. These skills are already shaping the way I approach my role—helping me think more deeply about how to create lasting systems that embrace diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) in school districts. It reinforced my belief that real change isn’t just about finding solutions—it’s about building teams and networks capable of driving sustainable impact.
I feel energized and equipped with new tools to support the communities I serve. I’m incredibly grateful for the connections I made with my cohort at Hofstra, and I look forward to putting what I’ve learned into practice—building more inclusive, equitable spaces where everyone can thrive.
