Dr. Hope Weinberg, Supervisor Literacy and Learning

The 2023 recipient of the Manhattanville College Ethel Kennedy Award for Human Rights Leadership, Dr. Weinberg approaches leadership from an evidence-driven perspective grounded in solid pedagogical theory, human behavior, and advocacy. A collaborative leader, she values family and community and has been described by a former colleague as "a teacher favorite." Dr. Weinberg has worked with district stakeholders to support efforts for school and district-wide curricular initiatives, offering a 'balcony view' of ideas while keeping all students at the center of her leadership universe. In her prior role as Assistant Principal at Concord Road Elementary School within the Ardsley Union Free School District, Dr. Weinberg played a crucial part in refining MTSS processes and practices. Her dedication to educators is evident through her work with aspiring teachers at the Westchester/Rockland Teacher's Center and her influential roles as a district literacy coach and assistant principal in Mt. Vernon schools, where she spearheaded school-wide literacy initiatives. Before joining the staff in Ardsley, Dr. Weinberg excelled in various roles, including Supervisor of Instruction in the Toms River Regional School District in New Jersey and serving as a reading specialist and literacy coach in the Neptune Township School District. Dr. Weinberg's talent for planning, organizing, and leading professional development sessions has made her a sought-after speaker, addressing audiences of varying sizes. She has Actively participated in programs, including those at both Southern Westchester BOCES and Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES, and has facilitated forums and collaborative networks, including the LGBTQ+ inclusive network. Dr. Weinberg's advocacy includes fostering a climate of belonging for LGBTQ+ communities within schools. In 2021, she was chosen as the keynote speaker for the Manhattanville College School of Education Dean's Symposium, addressing over 100 future educators. Weinberg holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Monmouth University and a master's in literacy from The College of New Rochelle. She earned educational leadership certifications from New Jersey EXCEL and Manhattanville College. In 2023, she achieved her EdD in Educational Leadership from Manhattanville College.
