Dr. Mary Elizabeth Wilson, Senior Director
Dr. Mary Elizabeth Wilson serves as the Senior Director of the Center for Professional Learning and Curriculum Support (PLCS) at Southern Westchester BOCES. Dr. Wilson’s extensive experience in leading regional, national, and international education programs and initiatives informs her belief in the transformative power of education to change the trajectory of individual lives –and the world. Dr. Wilson’s strong foundation in Educating for Sustainability (EfS) guides her participatory leadership and commitment to improving education, health, and wellness by aligning them with the goals of ecological integrity, economic vitality, and social justice. She knows that it is the work of schools to prepare each child to thrive in a diverse, inclusive, and equitable society as a socially engaged life-long learner. Under her leadership, the Center’s professional learning and curriculum support programs and services are grounded in research, informed by practice, and designed to grow and enhance the knowledge, skills, and competencies of all educators. In her role, Dr. Wilson oversees all of the Center’s many CoSers, grant-funded, and aid-supported programs and services directly.
The first woman in her family to attend college, and with expertise in science and science education, Dr. Wilson holds a doctoral degree from Columbia University, two Advanced Master’s degrees (one from Bank Street College of Education and the other from Columbia University), a Master’s degree from CUNY, and a Bachelor’s degree from Manhattan College.
